Multipath channel modeling for terrestrial line-of-sight links at 19.5 GHz

چکیده

The need for greater bandwidth and higher data rates will inevitably lead to the usage of the lower portion of the k-band in terrestrial communication systems. The frequency band from 18 GHz to 20 GHz has been identified as a suitable candidate for short-haul line-of sight (LOS) links. As a consequence, a 6.73 km terrestrial LOS link centered at 19.5 GHz was recently established between the Howard College and Westville campuses of the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). In order to evaluate the effects of multipath propagation for the link statistical models of the channel transfer functions are required. In this paper the simulation and statistical modeling of the proposed LOS link will be discussed.

Polarization Behavior of Discrete Multipath and Diffuse Scattering in Urban Environments at 4.5 GHz

The polarization behavior of the mobile MIMO radio channel is analyzed from polarimetric double-directional channel measurements, which were performed in a macrocell rural environment in Tokyo. The recorded data comprise non-line-of-sight, obstructed line-of-sight, and line-of-sight conditions. The gradient-based maximum-likelihood estimation framework RIMAX was used to estimate both specular a...

Dual-Space Diversity over Land Mobile Satellite Channels Operating in the L and K Frequency Bands

Land mobile satellite communication systems at Ka/K band (30/20 GHz) are attracting more and more attention to researchers because of its frequency band availability and the possibility of using small earth stations and satellite antennas for the systems. However, the Ka/K-band communications also give significant challenges in the system design due to severe channel impairments expected from t...

Wideband Mimo Measurements of Outdoor Nlos Channels

The measurement results of the wideband wireless multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels in outdoor environments are presented. Our wideband wireless MIMO channel sounder consists of four transmitters and eight receivers, and operates at a carrier frequency of 1.8 GHz with a bandwidth of 2.5 MHz. After obtaining the multipath delay profiles from the data collected in non-line-of-sight (N...

An experimental hardware prototype for fixed wireless broadband access at 60-400 Mbit/sec in 4.6 MHz

While the race for a ubiquitous, reliable and cost effective wireless broadband system has generated intense competition, the fundamental problem afflicting the wireless industry is cost of the transceiver hardware. We describe and discuss the results of some experimental outdoor field trials which demonstrate -for the first timethe hardware feasibility of fixed broadband wireless radio links w...
